Is Marriage Equality Coming to the USA?

We are happy to bring you some exciting equality news for your Tuesday!!

In a historic move, the Democrats unanimously approved the addition of support for gay marriage in their platform at the Democratic National Convention in September. Can you believe it? This goes beyond getting the endorsement of the party leaders (Obama and Biden), but means it would be a focus of the party should they get re-elected later this year.

It is not clear exactly what the party will say at the Convention - will they voice support for gay marriage, or to repeal DOMA (please??), but either way it's a big step for LGBT equality. They are also thought to want to make discrimination in the workplace laws include LGBT workers in all states.

We are very excited at this news, because it makes us feel a lot closer to having rights in Laura's home like we do here in the UK. We've always said we'd like to move to the USA eventually, and it would be a dream come true to be able to do that sooner than later.

We can't wait until September to see what they commit to!

Love always,
Laura & Sarah xo
